Guitar Hero Sign / Finishing

Here are a couple of pictures of me in my studio working on this sign. The first pictures are the painting before the black is added. The black makes the painting pop! The three holes in the bottom are being filled with color Gels and strobes to give the Guitar Hero effect. This painting was done with Liquitex laytex paints.

Guitar Hero Sign / Beginning

I was hired by Guitar Hero fan to create this sign...I did not cut the shape but I painted it. It is a 3/4 MDO board primed. I will post more images soon.

Desert Star Backdrops / Finished!

THEY ARE COMPLETE!!! I was hired by the Desert Star Theatre in Murray, Utah fo create 3 new back drops for their new production of Wizard of Odd. These images in their original state are 26' x 13' and fill the entire stage...they are huge. I created these images 100% in Photoshop CS3 and did a 1:1 ratio and reduced that in half to get a high res file that would look great for the printing. I taxed my little Mac Mini to it's limits and each file was close to 2 GB, so it took nearly 10 minutes to save each time. This was a really big project, I had only 3 and a half weeks and they all went through major changes and revisions...and as anyone knows I have very little time anyways with my million other projects so I would stay up till 12:00 or 1:00 in the morning a lot to get these done. I really had a good time doing them and feel my Photoshop knowledge is at a solid A game.

Smurf Houses

Here is a closer look at the Smurf style houses that I have done for the drops. I have painted them in Photoshop and have several different colors...they were so much fum to work on.

Desert Star Backdrops / Almost there!

Here is my progress on the backdrops for the Desert Star, they are getting huge! Back drop 2 is 1.4 G big...it is the biggest file I have ever created...I am pushing my Mac Mini to the edge when I work on it....it sure is a lot of work, I pour every free amount of time I have into this project. I will put up the final images when the project is over.

I WOW By....

Being the Illustration Procees Owner is a lot of work at the O.C. but sometimes you do get fun projects to work on. I was asked to illustrate the first of 7 posters we are using all around the office building and I had a good time working on this project. It was hard subject matter and really made me think outside the box. I sketched ideas in pencil, scanned them in and Illustrated over them in Adobe Illustrator CS3.

SVIRZ

Pronounced "Sphere's". I designed this logo for Cindi Perkins for her new natural cutical oil, body oils, and natural body line. She gave me free reign to design the logo, she wanted something hip and modern, with a natural element to it.I really like this design alot. Thanks Cindi.

Flowers

I have been comissioned by a friend of mine, Steve Wilkinson, to paint a picture for his wife Quisha. This was a huge project, the painting is 5' x 3' on canvas. Steve picked the subject matter and the color and I came up with the creative style and balance of the piece. I normally would take a month or two to develop a painting, but this was a suprise birthday present for Quisha and I had to complete this piece in 3 weeks. Buy supplies, create painting, paint, get the picture photographed, and get the painting shipped to Kansas. It was quite the project. Quite fun.

MPI

These 2 pieces were commisioned by MPI of Utah. They needed a Dragon for their Save the Date, Invitations, and Programs for their Chinese Auction. I created the second Dragon by pencil drawing it then scanning it into Photoshop and coloring it in the computer.
The first Dragon was a piece I did for their silent auction, it is a 10" x 14" acrylic painting on canvas. I donated both pieces for charity, the auction benefits the Make A Wish foundation.

Directory of Illustration

I have bought a page in an Illustration Annual called "The Directory of Illustration". This is the cover of the annual and my page is on the left. I am really excited to be in this book because it is seen by almost every Art Director in america, close to 150,000. The hope is that this will generate new business for DEAN Illustration. Keep your fingers crossed.

Dr. Holman

I am in the process of having my teeth straightened, and my Orthodontist is an avid hunter. He knew I used to work at Hart Signs and was wondering if I could make a sign for his hunting cabin. I made this design to give the backwoods feel by using multiple browns, but a little more modern feel by excluding high details and using shilouettes. He enjoyed the sign very much and has it posted outside of his private road.
The sign is 4' x 4' 1/2 MDO board w/High Grade Vinyls and outdoor paint.

Classic Garrick Artwork / Ben & Elledge

I used to draw a comic strip for fun called Ben & Elledge, about my two friends Ben Simonsen and Elledge Bowers...they were funny and stupid and full of inside jokes. I thought it would be fun to show you all a little glimpse into some artwork I used to do before I knew what to...do.
These will be called "Classic Garrick Artwork"
