Homework Number #5

This assignment was the most time consuming and the most challenging... but it was the most fun and I love that I get to show you my process from beginning bluelines to full colors.

First I lay out my pages in blue line non reproducible pencil.

Then using graphite I start laying in all the details

Using Micron Pens I ink in the piece

Then into Photoshop to do the computer coloring.
Then into Illustrator to do the borders and text.

The four part process.

This assignment was fun to get into the principles of complete pages.

Thank you to The Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art for the amazing education.

Excelsior!

Discovering Emma

Recently I have been hired by a couple of different companies to do some photoshop work for them and that led to this project. Discovering Emma is a the story of Emma Smith the wife of Joseph Smith the mormon leader. The company that hired me, Candlelight Media Group had created the top DVD cover for there distribution of the film, but were very unhappy with final result.

They sent me stills from the film and they wanted more realism and a rustic/pioneer tone to the piece. There are several versions of this DVD cover, but this is the one they ultimately choose.

Photoshopping and creating is a great art form, but it takes a lot of time and a great knowledge of the program to make everything work for you, I have great respect for people that do great photoshoped film posters after doing my one DVD cover.
